WHO ARE THE BOBS
For those of you who do not know about us we will explain.
The BOBS (Brora Old Boys) are senior members of Brora Golf Club who play 15
holes under stableford rules on each Tuesday morning (Weather permitting).
We are always pleased
to welcome visitors who do not necessarily have to be senior
citizens and often during the summer months we have quite an international
The competition fee is £2 plus 10p for each bunker which you land in. The best three cards earn a
voucher for the club shop.
Surplus funds are donated to local causes and charities to whom we have been
able to give over £1,500 during the last three years.
All players are
automatically entered in the summer or winter eclectic competitions and if
anyone achieves that magic hole in one the BOBS fork out for drinks all round.
Pictured are Bernard Ledwith and Wattie MacBeath, joint
winners of the 2013 summer eclectic, after being presented with The Eric Potter
Pot by BOBS club captain Martin Moore. Both golfers played 21 times and amassed a total of
52 stableford points. In third place we had three players on 49 points,
Tom Dodds, John MacGregor and Tony Tracey. During the year Wattie
scored a record 44 points in one round of 15 holes and Bernard scored six
points at the 17th which the BOBS play as a par five - is it any wonder that
they ran out the eventual winners?
It is a clear indicator of how good a summer we have had if you consider that this year 449 rounds were played compared with
307 last year.
Our winter season got underway on 1st October and we extend a warm welcome
to any member or visitor who wishes to join us for a compeitive round in good company next Tuesday morning.
